lyrics

When I turned fifteen mom and dad said get a job
Get the fuck up off the couch and do what we say
When I graduated high school my teachers said get a job
Get the fuck into a college and just do what we say
When I graduated college the government said get a job
You’ve got a degree so you gotta do what we say
But I worked my whole life and now I live in St. John’s
And I can’t buy any smokes ‘cause I ain’t got a job

How can I afford to get drunk every night
To think about the joke that is my adult life
Spare a dime?
Can’t get enough change to buy a bag of chips
I’m starving for a beer can you give me a little sip?
Spare a dime?
Got a student loan debt hanging over my head
Gas prices are so high that I can’t even get road head
Spare a dime?
I want to go outside and find someone to bum a dart
But I can’t even pay my light bill and I lives in the dark

I would hand out resumes but I don’t have a printer
Gotta handwrite that shit on sheets of loose leaf paper
I’ve pawned just about everything I’ve ever owned
Given everything but my guitar to the by’s up at Traders
Guess that I could go downtown and busk on a street corner
But playing punk rock for money is the last thing I want to do
So I could sell out and play “Wagon Wheel” to all the passers by
Here’s a little ditty I wrote called “Free Bird Part 2”

How can I afford to get drunk every night
To think about the joke that is my adult life
Spare a dime?
Can’t get enough change to buy a bag of chips
I’m starving for a beer can you give me a little sip?
Spare a dime?
Got a student loan debt hanging over my head
Gas prices are so high that I can’t even get road head
Spare a dime?
I want to go outside and find someone to bum a dart
But I can’t even pay my light bill and I lives in the dark

The economy’s gone tits up!
